50 former client of the real estate firm MacAnthony were in Marbella on Wednesday to ratify in court their complaint for fraud and misappropriation against the owner of the business, Darragh Stewart MacAnthony. Most of those affected are British and Irish, and accuse MacAnthony of keeping the 15,000 € each had paid him for the furniture he had undertaken to buy at a low price for the properties they had bought from the company. It amounts to some 600,000 € for homes purchased in Turkey, Bulgaria, Cabo Verde, Italy, France and Morocco, amongst other locations. Diario Sur reports that lawyers acting for the victims said most of the deals took place in MacAnthony’s offices in Marbella, but the company was left without any assets when it moved its registered address to a ghost office in Madrid. It’s purportedly administered by a 90 year old man with no known business activity.
