Spanish bullfighter, José Tomás, is said to be stable after a very serious goring in the Feria de San Marcos in Mexico. He was caught by the fifth bull from the De Santiago stud.
The matador underwent a three and a half hour operation and is now in the intensive care unit of the Hidalgo Hospital, after being gored three times as much as 15 cms deep by the bull ‘Navegante’. The stream of blood which led from the ring to the surgery at the bullring was described as frightening, and immediately the PA system called for members of the public to donate blood. One report says the bullfighter was given eight litres of blood.
Doctors report that surgery went well, that the bullfighter was stable and that his life was not threatened.
