Ryanair now threatens to stop passengers who have not printed their passes at home from boarding

Monday, 24 January 2011

Ryanair now threatens to stop passengers who have not printed their passes at home from boarding: "Ryanair has responded to the ruling from a court in Barcelona which considered its policy of charging 40 € for passengers who have failed to print out their PDF file of their boarding pass, by threatening not to allow such passengers on board the flight.

The Barcelona court considered the policy of the Irish airline as abusive, and now Ryanair has responded that it is considering ‘no longer printing boarding passes in the airports where it operates’, which means in effect that if you arrive at the airport without your boarding pass, you will not be able to fly.

The airline has been in a process of reducing the number of check in desks at airports, saying passengers must print their own boarding cards at home before travel to avoid a 40 € surcharge.

Meanwhile a statement has said that the airline has placed the Barcelona court decision in the hands of its Spanish lawyers so that they can launch an appeal against the decision the airline describes as ‘bizarre and illegal’. It said it would continue to charge the 40 € while the appeal proceeded."
