Prosecutor wants 18 year prison sentence for Irish shooter in Riviera del Sol: "The Prosecutor has called for an 18 year prison sentence for Eric W. the 26 year old Irish man, who shot a 24 year old British man, Daniel Smith as many as eight times on the terrace of a bar in Riviera del Sol in Mijas Costa in June 2010.
The shooting came after an argument between the two, with the aggressor considering that the British man had behaved badly with a woman. At first he left, but then the Irishman returned on a moped and carried out the shooting, causing the death at the scene of the Briton.
The private accusation in the case, being brought by the victim’s mother, is calling for 25 years in prison and the payment of 300,000 € in compensation.
The Irishman, who had a previous police record, was arrested by the Guardia Civil less than 48 hours after the attack when he was leaving a house in Coín, where he had hidden after the crime. A search of the property found three hand grenades, two packets of explosives, detonators and ammunition."
